Tied on a 5/0 barbless carbon steel hook and 55mm shank, these flies are incredibly easy to cast and have minimal water retention. Loaded with Ewing feathers and Krystal flash for the tail, and rabbit fur stacked for the body, Pike and Musky have a hard time resisting the life-like movement of these baitfish flies. Brightly colored contrast around the hook gives predator fish a target point on the fly, while slow jigging and jerk strip retrieves create the erratic rolling and twitching of a wounded baitfish. The most essential quality in building a solid Pike fly is durability and these guys have passed the test! As with all newly crafted flies, I recommend allowing them to bake in direct sunlight for a day to remove the adhesive smell.
