The Livewire Copper Leadcore fishing rod is a much improved design for trolling offshore, particularly with inline planer boards.   Most available copper and leadcore fishing rods have too small of guides, and often resemble more of a pool cue than a fishing rod.    The old school overweight and super stiff design available today is not necessary with modern day inline planer boards which pull almost effortlessly in most conditions and wire fishing line lengths.  The sensitivity of the Livewire is also a departure from the old school pool cue design.

Many fish are lost because the angler cannot feel the fish behind the inline planer board, particularly when fish are running at the boat.  In addition, many fish are lost on hook pulls near and around the boat after the inline planer has been removed, courtesy of the standard super stiff pool cue style rod.

Walleye Copper Trolling Wire from Blood Run is a nickel/tin coated stranded copper wire designed to achieve greater depths with less line out than leadcore.   One of the most significant advantages of the stranded twist copper wire from Blood Run is it's pliability and user-friendly design. 

 

With smooth payout and small diameter, segments of up to 300 feet fit easily on small sized level wind reels most often used by Walleye trollers.

 

Designed for pulling shallow and deep running stickbaits for suspended walleyes, crawler harnesses and mini spoons. Pinpoint trolling depth and angle with greater accuracy than leadcore.


Weighted Steel Fishing Line termination kit from Blood Run Fishing.

Kit includes Blood Run size 8 micro swivels, stainless crimp sleeves, and heat shrink tubing to terminate (10) weighted steel fishing line reels.

Termination is done by sliding a section of heat shrink and crimp sleeve up the weighted steel fishing line prior to connecting the weighted steel line to the swivel. After the weighted steel fishing line has been run through the swivel, the steel can be run up into the crimp sleeve and then crimped with a pair of wire cutters. The heat shrink can be slid down over the crimp sleeve and secured using a lighter.

The same process would take place on the leader end of the weighted steel fishing line.

Caution, do not place heat shrink or heat of any kind near your backer or leader material.
